The Sailing Ketch Morning Star with a long and illustrious career, having been built in China in
1968 by the eminent Robin Fong Boat Yard, and cruised 1½ circumnavigations of the world
from 1973 through 1981, as related in the book, Voyage of Commitment Morning Star Around
The World, by Raymond F. Triplett; ©1983.

Subsequently having come to us after setting idly in San Francisco Bay for nearly fifteen years,
this little ship was in need of a good deal of remedial maintenance.  This year has been
dedicated thus far to re-laminating de-laminated sub decks, using Steve Smith Epoxies,
replacements of the bronze screws and new teak plugs, hundreds of new teak plugs.  Many
hours have been spent sanding, varnishing, scrubbing and polishing, and little by little she is
starting to come into shape.

After some shakedown cruising along the coast, and two years living aboard this winter finds
us doing some refit on the boat.  A new lectrasan treatment system, zantrex charger/inverter
and miles of new wiring.  It is our hope that next year will find us cruising through the Panama
Canal, across the Atlantic and laying too in the Med for a couple years.  Just some paint, a new
transducer for a depth sounder, re-wiring of the masts and we have completed or 3 year major
refit.
